Since we first started in business, (over 13 years ago!), the amount of tools and SaaS products on the market has exploded. The fourth round of the Queensland Small Business Digital Grants program has just opened for applications.
Queensland based businesses that tick off the following criteria are able to apply to access dollar for dollar matching for various digital services including content development (including web page development, Mobile application development, visual and audio media); receiving payments or selling online; specialised digital technology or software which is business specific; or digital planning, marketing strategy development, and training. Our Signage Capabilities – No Limits

The past month has been very busy in production with some specialised signage requirements for a new venue on the Sunshine Coast, Flanagan’s Irish Pub.
Working closely with the architect and interior designers, we used our extensive branding and signage capabilities to roll out a number of different signage applications throughout the interior of the Venue. Some of these included the production of stencils which were used for sandblasting onto glass, 3 dimensional signage on gold mirror, intricate directional signage and wallpaper graphics. All of these applications required specialty skills which were finished and installed by our team of dedicated production professionals.

We’re feeling all warm inside here at the Copirite office and it has nothing to do with the soaring temperatures outside!
Today we received a beautiful card from one of the charities that we proudly support that has resulted in the warm fuzzies hitting. Beautifully embossed and hand signed by the Youngcare team – it certainly was the nicest thing to hit our letterbox in a while. Thank you in turn to our wonderful clients who support us and provide us with the ability to make a contribution to the causes that are close to our hearts.

A big Copirite welcome to our latest team members! In the last few months we’ve just got busier and busier (again!) and have some new hires – Alysha in graphic design, James in Signage and print production, Kyla in Administration and Dispatch Co-Ordination and Nicki has joined our Account Management and Administration team.
We’re currently advertising for another designer to join our expanding Gold Coast Graphic Design crew too.

We’ve been flat out with new projects, new clients, new staff to cope with new workload, and new equipment the last few months. A more comprehensive update will be added to our ‘Clients’ section of the website soon; but in the meantime here are some graphic design works that have been keeping us busy.
One50 – Welcome to our New Client

The opening of one of the Gold Coast’s latest hospitality venues has been eagerly anticipated by our team and surrounding businesses. Launched in mid March, the One50 Public House, is located just around the corner from us, at 150 Bundall Road.
The site previously occupied by Surfers Rowers, has had a extensive interior and exterior renovation. It features a swish New York inspired fit-out, and trades from breakfast through to late night cocktails. It’s a place we’ve already frequented for offsite client catch ups as well as unwinding after the working week. Well worth checking out!
The team at Copirite are proud to be providing this new establishment with graphic design services and have completed our first few projects for it’s launch, including function pack design, launch flyer design, print and distribution, and design of various promotional artworks.

Our MYOB to Xero Conversion – Zero Lost & Plenty Gained

There is a strong similarity between our recent transitioning of our accounting system from desktop software MYOB to cloud based Xero, to the approaching birth of a child. As the due date drew closer for our conversion, I couldn’t wait for MYOB to be out. Excited, full of fear and trepidation, I couldn’t concentrate on many other tasks. Xero was coming soon and our lives were about to change forever; or so my developers kept telling me.
On the day of our new arrival, there was the expected pain. Not all data had not imported correctly. There was joy – sending invoices had been converted into a simple click of a button from our custom built CRM, Copimaker. More excitement. We could link our clients accounts to Xero through the API to give them up to date balances, download invoices and more.
There were a few sleepless nights. Adjusting incorrectly imported invoices; testing out the new functions our developers were integrating, and just general fear of the unknown.
Fast forward three weeks later, and Xero has made the accounting side of our work a joy. Like any mother will say, any pain experienced, is quickly forgotten! With the incorporation of a bulk payment reconciliation tool, the ability to push out invoices directly to the software, batch bill uploading and more, we are already saving several hours of time each week and our business processes have vastly matured. Without a doubt though, the best part is accessibility via the web. Having our new team ‘member’ available on the go is crucial for a busy, time poor person like myself. So too is the ability to provide different levels of access, from data entry only for our Office Junior, through to complete advisor access for our Accountant. No more backing on up disks or uploading huge files to Dropbox, Mac vs Windows operating system issues. Blah, blah, blah. All in the past.
I cannot recommend Xero highly enough. I am not an accounts person and what Xero says is true – it does make accounting enjoyable. A big shout out and thank you to Gillian Rossouw from Jill of All Trades who assisted with the conversion, provided training to myself and our in-house Accountant Michelle, and continues to support us through our journey. My web developers and I look forward to pushing the limits of Xero integration and providing the same time and cost savings to our clients. We can proudly say that our custom designed websites and software are built using Ruby on Rails, the very same platform that built Xero, and provide a stable base for future enhancements, add ons and integrations; growing with you and your business.

What an awesome turnout for the first ever Typism http://typism.com.au conference on the Gold Coast.
A room full of passionate font geeks ready from 9am to take in a full day of font frothing.
The speakers were awesome, thanks to our host Dominique Fella. For me the highlights were from local brand designer Matt Vergotis who I could have listened to for another 5 hours on brand strategy, logo development and client relations, and Brisbane printmaker Nicole Phillips who seems to have ink flowing in her veins. I have never heard anyone speak more articulately & passionately about print, ink & press.
Wayne Thompson, founder of http://www.atf.com.au was truly inspiring. To get an understanding of the time and energy that goes into designing a full type family including weights and glyphs blew me away.
Thinking back on it now, all the speakers were completely engaging and they all brought a clever, insightful depiction of their life with typography and I was captivated throughout the day. I’m totally chuffed that finally the GC has a platform like Typism, for designers to share their experiences. Typism delivered a massive exclamation mark! Cant wait for the next one!

Cupcake Day for the RSPCA – 2013
Monday 19th August was the RSPCA’s annual fundraiser – Cupcake Day.
Designers, Account managers and production staff all got their ovens blazing to create some of these fantastic Cupcake creations.
Together with our local businesses we’ve raised around $500 so far for this worthy cause. Good work team Copirite!
